I’m down here in Dunedin enjoying the warmth and wrapping presents but things are more fraught in Christchurch. There was a cluster of earthquakes yesterday afternoon – a 5.8, a 6.0 and a couple of others that were just over 5. The liquefaction has bubbled through again in some places, a few buildings collapsed, and many people suffered minor injuries. The people of Christchurch are good at managing the logistics of earthquake recovery these days, but the emotional toll must be devastating.
