Summer’s been a chancy affair in Wellington this year. But today was fabulous. The sun had that sharp feeling I associate mostly with the South Island. We all spent as much time outside as we could. Petra and Travis took some cardboard over to the park so they could slide down the grass bank. That was so exciting that Petra could barely speak when she tried to tell me about it. Her voice rose and rose until it broke into a squeak. Petra did some tree climbing in the back yard. Travis pruned and trimmed. And I mowed all the lawns – a sweaty undertaking with our blunt-bladed push mower, especially since the grass had gotten a bit out of hand.
It was a good day. I’m sunburnt and my shoulders are a bit stiff and I know I’ve been working outside. It’s a lovely feeling.
