This building is just across the street from Petra’s kindy. They’ve wrapped it in plastic and are basically rebuilding it from the outside in. It’s noisy and dusty and dirty, and it’s been going on for a year now – I don’t know how the residents are coping.
Wellington is a wet and humid place and the attempt in the late 90’s/early 2000’s to build Mediterranean-style houses and apartments failed about as spectacularly as it failed in Vancouver.
If anyone had been paying attention to what happened in Canada, New Zealand would have been able to avoid most of the problems, but it seems that no-one was looking.
