Moata blogs for stuff.co.nz. Usually her blog is a chatty look at her daily life. The last post she wrote before the earthquake is about a huge zit. But, everything changed for her last Tuesday. She was at work in central Christchurch when the earthquake happened and her flat is inside the cordoned off area in the middle of town. So she’s jobless and homeless, and for the first few days was also without power and water. The three posts she’s written since the quake convey the reality of what it’s like trying to muddle along in the aftermath of a disaster, in a way that all the pictures of broken buildings and all the uncomfortably voyeuristic interviews with shocked and grieving survivors that we’re seeing on TV just aren’t able to do.
