Mubarak Resigns

Egypt | Cairo | Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak resigns.

Now what’s going to happen?

I don’t know much about what’s happening in Egypt or why, after 30 years of putting up with Mubarak, the Egyptian people decided they’d had enough.  But I wonder what kind of government will replace him and how the transition will work.

Will all the people on the street just go back to work and to school?  Will the life of the country continue as if it hasn’t been interrupted?  What will the army do?  Will the apparatus of totalitarian rule – the secret police and the prisons, and whatever else Mubarak used to enforce his rule – be dismantled?  Will there be trials and recompense?  How does it work?
