Went well. Petra was a bit nervy about it and stuck close to me. She’s very interested in the other kids though, and in figuring out how to join in. I foresee some challenges around the issue of sharing and cooperating as she adjusts, but she’s smart, and she’ll work it out.
She had a nice time helping shape the dough for the morning tea scones into something resembling pita bread. And the scones tasted fine despite the enthusiastic kneading they received from various small hands. She also enjoyed holding the guinea pigs and mucking around in the wonderful back yard.
I was fine as well. The teachers are lovely and the parents friendly. So my concerns about not feeling comfortable were unfounded.
Four hours is a long time though and by the time the session was finished, Petra was starving and tired. We might try leaving 30 minutes earlier next week to avoid that last unsettled period.
