Petra and I have been driven from home by the plasterers. We'll be staying at Mum's house for the next few days while they remove the existing ceiling panels in the hallway, put up new ones, and plaster them smooth. They began by laying planks between ladders so they had something to stand on while they attacked the ceiling, and then brought out the saws to hack into the panels. It was at this point that I decided that retreat was the better part of valour.
What was originally going to be a simple fix to the lounge has turned into a major undertaking involving three rooms. The painting that I originally scheduled for last week probably won't happen until next week now. Oh well, it'll be beautiful when it's done. Or so I keep telling myself.
