The Next President of the USA

Barack Hussein Obama.  How amazing and wonderful.

I've spent much of the day refreshing fivethirtyeight.com and tpm.com for the latest results.  But when the official announcement came I was less excited than I thought I would be.  Simple relief was my dominant feeling.  Relief that the last 8 years are finally ending.  Relief that I can stop being outraged whenever I read the political blogs.  Relief that inspiration rather than fear won out.  And relief that I can stop obsessing about an election in a country not my own and get back to my life.

Wow – quick comment! I signed up to vote here as soon as I got back. I'll be off on Saturday morning to vote at the local school. Elections have been following us around the world. The Canadian election took place while we were there. We couldn't vote because we'd been out of the country for too long. But I would have if I could have.

That is really good to hear, Janette. No surprises who I will be voting for since I am on the list! But I am not sure which polling place: I am pretty spoiled for choice here.

  3. Janette says:

Oh, I hope it goes well for you on Saturday! What party are you standing for?

  4. Jack Yan says:

Thanks, Janette! I am no. 12 on the Alliance list!
