Doing the Crawl

Petra has just this minute figured out how to crawl.  She came in pursuit of my shoe laces (which are endlessly fascinating at the moment) and made a couple of exaggerated, wobbly knee movements to get them.  Having done it once, she's off, teetering across the floor to my bag and now to a magazine, which I'm going to have to run over and rescue before she eats it…..

It's all very exciting, although some hasty child-proofing will be in order.  Our lounge is at the top of a flight of stairs and we have a computer sitting invitingly in one corner and a bookshelf in the other.

  1. Then says:

Sofia is just on the verge of crawling herself. Exciting and scary all in one go! Yay, Petra, you on your way to freedom!!

  2. Roewan says:

Finally mobile! I'll bet she feels incredibly independent.

  3. Janette says:

I don't think she's quite grasped the implications yet. She creeps over to grab shoes, bags, cords, all those things she isn't supposed to grab, but she hasn't thought to go exploring yet. She just gets the forbidden item and sits up to chew on it.It won't take long for her to figure it out though, and then my little baby will be gone….in more ways than one.

  4. Janette says:

Yes, it's a bit nerve wracking. Once she really gets going we'll have a whole new kind of baby on our hands. All the rapid changes they go through at this age are fascinating and fun and I've been eagerly waiting for her to get mobile. But it'll take some adjusting to a roaming Petra.
