Introducing Petra Rose

Petra was born at 6.17 on Thursday evening.  She weighed 3.49 kg and was 51 cm long.  She's well and healthy and has just the right number of fingers and toes.  She also has blue eyes and a head-full of dark hair, at least for now.  All the hair will fall out, according to the pediatrician, and her eyes could change colour once they see some sunlight.

Thank you all!! We've now had a couple of days at home and are learning about the delights of no sleep at night and how to bath, breastfeed, burp and dress a tiny baby. Petra's very competent at knowing what she wants – we just try to keep up.

Thanks! The labour went pretty well – I managed the whole thing without an epidural. I'm a bit sore because I needed some stitches, but am well apart from that (and very sore breasts now that the milk's coming in) .

  10. She's more than beautiful, she's perfect! As for the hair thing, Wolfman Dilbert had a full head of hair that never went away. Kinda spoiled me for Girlzilla, who was bald as a cueball and stayed that way for a distressingly long time. (Distressing to me, anyway- nobody else knew what I was talking about.)Congratulations to your couple becoming a full-fledged family!

Thanks! She is perfect, even when she's keeping us up at night. I hope she does keep her hair – it's a lovely dark brown colour with red highlights at the moment.
