Baby Gear and Costa Rican Domestic Architecture

We have baby gear scattered around the house now, which is all very cute and exciting, if a little daunting.

The bathroom:

And the laundry:

Costa Rican laundries are intriguing little rooms.  They tend to be in the centre of the house and are covered with clear plastic roofs.  Because we're nearly on the equator here, the sun beats straight down on the clothes line, allowing you to line dry your clothes in spite of the daily rain and the humidity.  Ingenious!  In our laundry at least, the walls and roof don't meet at the top, so it's essentially an outside space.

These pictures were taken from the spare bedroom upstairs – its window looks over the laundry.  The glass bricks on the opposite wall are in the master bathroom.  Here's the view looking up from the ground floor.
