Books for Pregnant People and their Partners

I'm a researching kind of person at the best of times and pregnancy has given me a lot of scope for investigation.  I've had a fine time reading all kinds of books and websites.  Here are the books I chose for home to be read and reread.

First, the practical books that give you all the information you need to discourse knowledgeably with your friends about fundal heights and lineas nigra, to frighten yourself about all the arcane ailments you and your baby can acquire, to understand the wonders of the baby's development week by week (my favorite sections), and to prepare yourself for the physical and emotional changes you go through during the pregnancy.  They also give you more information than is quite comfortable about labour and childbirth!

Second, the fun books.  The books of names.  I enjoyed reading the lists, definitions and pronunciations very much.  Travis and I couldn't agree on a boy's name, nothing piqued both our fancies, so we read each other names, rolled them around, trying to get one to stick.  We had trouble with the surprising differences in naming conventions between North America and New Zealand.  Names that are familiar to me because they were brought to NZ by the early (Scottish) settlers, are odd to Travis.  And names that he grew up with sound to me like the made up names of daytime soap stars.  Lucky then, that we're having a girl.  We ran into no cross cultural issues with girls' names.
